Several hundred club swinging policemen waded the group of demostrators, priests and nuns, striking them about the head and body, observers said, before hauling them off to jail in trucks. Some demostrators carried signs out a joint agreement aimed at settling the country's 10-week old political religious strife. (U1387563)
