Note(s)02 Aug 1963, Saigon, South Vietnam - Expressions of joy beam on the faces of Buddhist priests and nuns as a number of their counterparts stepped out of buses after being released by the Vietnamese government authority from a makeshift prison compound. The Buddhists all demonstrators who were arrested by club-swinging police, went to the main Xa Loi Pagoda. The headquarters of the Vietnamese Buddhist Resistance movement in Saigon, after being held three days at a Buddhist Cemetery outside of the city. (U1388858)
