Note(s)21 Aug 1963, Saigon, South Vietnam - Buddhist monk speaks to crowd gathered at Xa Loi Pagoda here August 18th for memorial services to Buddhists who committed ritual suicide by fore to protest policies of government of Vietnam President Ngo Dinh Diem, on August 21st, President Diem declared martial law throughout the country and sent his heavily armed troops storming through Xa Loi Pagoda and other headquarters of Budhist opposition.
